Bluetooth-Mouse with Linux

After some hesitation I finally decided last weekend to get a bluetooth-mouse for my Dell Mini 9, because it won’t eat up a usb-slot anymore using a real mouse. I hesitated because of the wild critics in different shops (amazon, etc) and the „responds slow“ comments there, and most of the mice start at 35 eur, so it’s a bunch of money to waste.

I got my Dell Inspiron Mini 9 in the middle of december 2008, and of course it was the Windows XP Version (because of the hardware), but I made sure to put a Linuxdistribution on top soon.

I decided to go with my standard system openSUSE (11.1 was fresh back then), knowing that this distribution isn’t specialized for the use of small(er) displays and the install on a SSD Flashdisk but I’m used to the tools and configuration of it.

Today I got my latest gadget, a Skytraq Venus 6 GPS 3in1 Device. It calls itself a GPS-Mouse, a data logger and photo tagger and comes in a small box for ~ 30 bucks.

lsusb calls the device like this
Bus 004 Device 006: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
and dmesg recognizes this few lines

Trouble with DynDNS.org

The newly acquired Speedport seems to not work properly with a dyndns dynamic ip. Although it has the option to update your domain to your changing IP, I noticed several times, that the old one is still active and I could not access the computer. (A second no-ip.org entry works here).

Bootproblems

I don’t know if my actual Linuxdistribution or the mainboard of the computer or the harddisk causes the problems, but as I noticed yesterday, I’m unable to boot the machine from any of the two SATA-disk’s.

As I started to build the computer from scratch I had 5 harddiscs and one dvd-burner, so both IDE-Channels and both of the SATA-Interfaces were used. After removing the windows partitions and some clean up, I decided to remove two 80GB-IDE disk’s for noise reduction.
